High Endeavours
In the 1930's, Beryl Smeeton had traveled alone across four continents by road, river and rail, and often on foot or horseback; together, Miles and Beryl had climbed with the young Sherpa Tenzing to 23,000 feet in the Hindu Kush, which was the highest altitude ever climbed by a woman. In the 1950's and 1960's, they logged over 130,000 miles from the Arctic to the Horn, and, in a rare moment of immodesty, Miles once confided that between them Beryl and he had traveled across every page of The Times Atlas of the World. High Endeavours is the true story of the most accomplished traveling and adventuring couple of the twentieth century, filled with love and adventure.
